Following Up on our Foliage Trip

What do you mean we can’t play fetch in the car?

I guess it was two weeks ago that we went on our New England Fall Foliage road trip. In honor of Follow Up Friday I decided to finally recap out trip! Thanks to Jodi at Heart Like a Dog and JoAnn at Sand Spring Chesapeakes for hosting! Sorry in advance that this post is on the longer side!

We drove out through Western Massachusetts, down through Connecticut, to Rhode Island, and then back up to Boston. Like one big circle! We took the weekend to do it, breaking for the night in Rhode Island to spend time with Sam’s mom & letting Duke play with all her dogs! It was a long time in the car but Duke did great. Makes me feel good about our possible cross-country trip next year.

Hiking back from The Poet’s Seat

Our first stop was this fun little hiking spot we stumbled on called The Poet’s Seat in Greenfield, Mass. It was a good chance to stretch our legs and give Duke a bathroom break. Plus, the view was beautiful! They had this tower that we climbed up to get this amazing view.

Taking in the view.

Enjoying the stretch break!

After our pit stop, we got back in the car and continued on to Shelburne Falls, MA.
We visited their Bridge of Flowers (no dogs allowed, so sad!) – it is just a nice walking path on a bridge lined with flowers.

Potholes & the falls

We also checked out their glacial potholes. More pretty to look at than anything else! This was a fun place to check out, it was a cute little town in the middle of nowhere really. Another nice stop on our trip!

After leaving Shelburne Falls, we headed through Amherst, Mass and down in Connecticut. We drove through some very rural areas in Connecticut and Rhode Island before finally settling in Southern Rhode Island for the night. Even Duke was enjoying the view, looking out the window!

Sunday, we stopped by our favorite dog park, South Kingston Dog Park (the only park with grass we’ve found in New England so far!) Then we headed to the beach to let Duke have some more time to run around. At one point he was off leash and ran through somebody’s Christmas Card photo shoot! Whoops!

Overall, it was a fun weekend! I can’t wait for our next weekend getaway!
